Design Notes

For this project, I created an 17x11 landscape flyer for Utah State University's Academic and Instructional Services department. Recently, the slogan changed, thus branding changed to reflect the new slogan. The slogan, as you can see on the flyer, is Solutions Empowered by AIS.

Design and Development

I started with a backwards design, having all of my assets and elements before having a design and goal in mind.  The assets that I wanted to include were the photo of the AIS (Distance Education) building taken by Levi Sim and the "Solutions" logo that AIS' Student Marketing and Communications team created.  I selected and masked out the building, as well as the logo, and placed them together where I wanted them on a new canvas in Photoshop.

Then, I downloaded some Photoshop actions that required that I brush over the building, as well as select areas that I wished to keep from having actions applied to, which were the windows with light emanating from them.  After applying the actions, I added the final text and line elements to demonstrate the departments and sections that are available within the Distance Education building and used the text and line elements to balance the image of the building, which is not symmetrical.  Lastly, I added AIS' branding to the bottom to balance out the top portion.
